During the operation of the electronic transformer, in a relatively quiet environment, you can often hear the abnormal sound of "crunch, crunch, crunch". So during the operation of the transformer, why are there abnormal sounds?
The sound is generated by the vibration of the object, so it can be judged that the transformer has generated vibration during the working process, and the frequency is below 20KHz. (Under normal circumstances, the sound frequency that human ears can hear is below 20KHz)
During the operation of the switching power supply, when there is intermittent oscillation, it will cause the vibration of the transformer itself, especially when this oscillation frequency resonates with the natural frequency of the transformer (natural frequency refers to the inherent vibration frequency of the object itself), the abnormal sound will be generated.
The abnormal sound of transformer can be analyzed from three aspects: transformer process problem, transformer material problem and transformer circuit problem.
1. Transformer process problems
Transformer process problems are the main causes of abnormal sound at present, which are reflected in the following aspects:
1. The magnetic core assembly is not in place, the clamping effect is poor, and there are active gaps in some positions;
2. The transformer is not immersed in place, the internal void is not completely filled, and the transformer is easy to loose;
3. The transformer column air gap is large, there is no point in the column glue or insufficient fullness;
4. The length of the transformer air gap is not appropriate, or there is an uneven distribution of the transformer air gap;
5. The transformer wire package is not wound tightly, and the tightness of the wire package is poor.
Second, the transformer material problem
1. When the magnetic core is saturated, the transformer rapidly heats up and produces self-excited vibration, which causes the vibration of the air to emit abnormal sounds.
2. Material resonance leads to abnormal sound. Insulation materials, as far as possible to choose suitable damping characteristics of the material; The magnetic core should be made of materials with high damping, low loss and low magnetic saturation.
Three, transformer circuit problems
1. Improper wiring of the power board causes interference and oscillation, resulting in abnormal sound;
2. Improper feedback loop design, resulting in unstable circuit, oscillation and abnormal sound;
3. Abnormal sound of components around the transformer (easy to mix with transformer abnormal sound, not easy to distinguish).
It is worth mentioning that due to the transformer gap (loose) caused by the noise, the sound will be reduced in operation for a while, the main reason is that after the transformer is heated, the magnetic core produces a hysteresis effect, the original gap
becomes smaller, the noise will also disappear.
For the abnormal requirements of transformers, people can often contact the environment, the requirements are relatively high. Such as home appliances, medical products. General outdoor products, relatively low requirements.
